The Backpackers Hostel was a good place for a Krakow visit for me - it turned out to be clean and inexpensive, with nice, student-like atmoshpere. It's well located near the Old Jewish district and the WW II Krakow Ghetto locations - I especially liked it's proximity to the original sites of the Schindler's List. Friendly staff (they answered all my questions :-), good breakfasts, availability of tours and sightseeings (good Auschwitz tours).

I strongly recommend this hostel.

We had great time in Krakow and this student hotel! We met people from all over the world and made some new friends. The hotel is very close (walking distance!) to great pubs in the old Jewish quarter and the doors are always open.
It is also near the Old Town of Krakow and the Wawel Royal Castle - we walked ca. 15 minutes to the castle by the Vistula river.
You can book tours in the hotel and we were in the Wieliczka Salt Mine with them - it was beautiful place.
The employees are nice and helpful and all speak English and most of them spoke German, too. They serve breakfasts (good and cheap) untill 11 am., so even after late nigt come-back we still managed to have breakfast at the hotel.

We're looking forward to come back to this hostel next year.

From my travels throughout Europe, I can confidently say that the Polish are the most friendly, hospitable and accommodating people in all of Europe. Thanks for everything - your help, the washing, the clean room... You'll definitely see me back here next year!

I have really enjoyed my 5 days in this lovely hostel in such a beautiful country! Thanks to all the staff who have been so helpful and making the stay here more comfortable + enjoyable! I hope to return to Poland again in the future when I can speak more Polish - until then, do zobaczenia!

Had a wonderful stay here at Bursa! The staff here are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are more than comfortable. Definitely recommend the Wieliczka and Auschwitz tours, well worth the money!
Krakow is a beautiful and friendly city, and I hope to return very soon!

Lonely Planet Review
Associated with the venerable university of the same name, the Bursa Jagiellonska is normally a student dormitory, but it is open in summer (normally late June through to early October) for travellers. It is Krakow's best student hostel, attracting student and non-student types from Poland and abroad.
The dorm has dozens of single, double and triple rooms; generally two or three rooms share bathroom and kitchen facilities. The whole place is spick-and-span, but nonetheless it is a dormitory. The clean, white linens and bare white walls feel rather institutional, as do the linoleum floors and bare-basic furniture (although it lacks bunk beds, which are otherwise a hostel standard in Krakow). The upside is the free facilities - Internet, laundry and TV room, and the friendly reception. Staff members speak more than a dozen languages between them, and are always ready to strike up a conversation. The amiable atmosphere pervades the hostel, making the Bursa Jagiellonska a great place to meet up with fellow summer travellers.

The Rough Guide to Poland
Clean and comfortable university student dorm south of the river on the western edge of the Podgórze district. Choice of doubles, triples and quads, with bathroom shared between every two or three rooms. Breakfast available for a few extra zlotys. Discounts for ISIC holders. Tram #10 from the train station to the Smolki stop (...).
